Beau came in and slept with Gabby on nest for awhile in early morning. Will try and post photo later

Whether this egg makes it to hatching or not we are certainly learning a lot. Beau has had to concentrate on patrolling and is learning more every day.

Beau was on this afternoon. What a good male. He is busy keeping intruders at Bay.
Gabby is eating off nest so he may be hunting and leaving for her. We often see this at other nests.
She is using the fluff he has been bringing in to pull around egg when she is off nest.

we had the intruder back yesterday and Beau was away patrolling.
Beau was at hi s roost last night and came in early morning to nest tree, and spent most of day there, protecting. A few times he and Gabby went out together, with appeared to be a chase.
I know some think he is foolish but not so. He is young and if given a chance , without chasing intruders , he will be great. He has proven to be stron g so far and GAbby likes him

I dont know - they are doing a necropsy on dead eagle.

I believe that is avian flu. All same symptoms that affected falcons in 2021- 2022. It killed Beauty, 2 females at woodman etc. we lost a lot in Edmonton area in 2022. I witnessed our girl in Genessee and several others. There is no cure. One of our females was picked up alive but then passed at vets. Exact symptoms as these eagles,
It affected eagles, etc that year also. I remember all avian birds were not on display etc. They were all kept in sort of a quarantine so they could not get the disease.

Beau is incubating
I made comment in chat yesterday that he looked like he was ready. I guess they acknowledged my comment this morning when he started incubating. He has been on over 2 hours.
Hoping for success here. I also felt Gabby was delaying incubation a bit, till he was ready. ( as she would be off egg for longer periods than usual)
All is possible

After seeing avian flu first hand I am very sure that is what it is. As a matter of fact, Gord just emailed me for my footage on female at Genesee as they are on coast of Alaska right now. And he would like footage As I witnessed symptoms. They are horrible and brought me to tears once again

Beau has been busy defending territory

Agreed, Bev. Beau came to the nest tree today, briefly around noon. Gabby got off the egg with his arrival and was really vocal. I mean loud!! She sounded annoyed. I think she wanted him to take over, as she perched briefly in the nest tree before flying off and leaving him with the egg. He did not take over incubation and did not stay long. He had fresh wounds on his talons. He keeps getting into battles. He was not around most of the day and Gabby is incubating this evening. She is caring for this egg with little to no help.

There are times when it looks like he wants to incubate and Gabby stays put.
But some interesting insight from Dr. Sharpe
What is transpiring here, is not as unusual as we think. Dr. Sharpe said it sometimes takes a young male a few seasons to be completely ready, especially when on the defence.
He gave the example of West end nest. He said the male there took a few seasons to be completely ready and now he is one of best males they have had,
We cannot see beyond the cams but I do believe he is supplying food.
I do like him and if no young ones, that is ok.
And it is good to not have food on nest, with so many intruders
