If I interpret Nadias notes correctly

8.15 am Eagle ( F1 and A3 ? ) in nest, wounds on talons
I think she was here an hour or so ago and Missy screamed at her]

I remember teh Norfolk male mated with several females.
Maybe Sam has. Be wild if 3 females laid his eggs here

:sunconfused:

A2 in tree right now. Nest seems too unstable right now for eggs and possibly the season, to me.

I got a couple pics of talons - with wounds here
https://www.raptorresource.org/forum/in ... =2056.1335

This is NOT gonna be a productive nest this year -
and thats ok - we dont need to add to the eagle population
I hate to see the fighting - tho I know its normal

Seeing that A2 left when I posted above and another eagle arrived a little later. They seem to be trying to identify.

And here it is:

Jan 19, 9:12 AM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): The eagle currently perched at the nest appears to be the same eagle that visited last night and earlier this morning. This eagle looks a bit smaller than the others, so likely a male with long legs like Romeo and Samsons.

:nailbite: I do hope Samson is OK. Lots of eagles in the area and lots of battling going on. This new eagle, which AEF believes is a male has talons wounds. Here are some pics of him from this morning. He was alone at the nest and did some vocalizing. Sigh!

1020am - New eagle....possible male.

1023am - Talon wounds.

I agree that nesting may be lost here this season. Too many eagles around. Constant disruptions and lack of nesting will gradually reduce the population. Nature has a way of taking care of itself and creating balance.

I have called new eagle a female.
Nadia - are YOU calling it a male?
I trust you more than the AEF mods

If you think its male I must REALLY be dumb

:teehee: Ferenz, I forgot I was scrambling eggs while I viewed your pic and responded above ... dried them out big
time (I prefer them a little wet), but not to worry ... the bacon, onions, mozzarella, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper I had added saved the day!!

I cannot say for certain Shep, as I have not seen the new eagle's size in comparison with another eagle. However, they just said that Samson was nest side and I do not agree. It is also not the eagle that was there this morning. It perched in the tree with A2 and has darker beak markings than Samson. This might be yet another eagle and probably male. Another young eagle. Jeez! When will it end!

1153am - A2 in nest tree.
Image

1153 am - Unidentified eagle in nest tree with A2. I do not believe this is Samson. Beak coloring is different.

Early pic of Samson for comparison.

I am heading out before the snow moves in. Happy viewing. I'll check back later.

Loza may have captured it Swinwk. She is preparing a video and pics. I am anxious to see what she has. Not having the DVR is very frustrating and I was looking at Berry College at the time.

Thanks for the video Loza and pics Ferenz. That is NOT Samson. That is another male hanging out with A2. The head speckling, beak markings, and dark tail stripes are not consistent with Samson. So, Samson has not been at the nest since yesterday afternoon.

Nadia - whew! Thanks!
I truly hope Samson returns but dont hold high hope.
He may be with B2 his true love.
Its challenging finding a territory when the area is fulla eagles.
2 per year from SW FL - and young from elsewhere.
Eastern TN releases lots of young too

noon - mods said cams down

Agree these do not look to be Samson. I too wish the DVR was here. I think the one who is to work on the DVR is free to do so now. Had been working on other projects there, that are now complete from what I read. It is really needed here with the fast pace and all the eagles visiting. I came in, saw left side view of male eagle head with A2 in the nest (but not as speckled as the one above, I don't remember seeing the top of it's head though) tried different cam d/t spinning and freezing, heard commotion and when I finally got a view again ... everyone was gone.
