Cohasset:
No chicks in the box, banding day ? ? ? Parent is sitting on the perch, seems quite relaxed . . .

Still see little one. It won't be easy to get his share as they get bigger, but so far, so good.

Baby got fed well. I assume the others were filled first.

How sweet. Thanks DEF.

I always worry about the little ones and in the first picture he looks so small.

Image

Then I caught a feeding. He was down front the entire time but was the last to finish so hopefully he got enough. His crop looked pretty good I thought.

Image

Image

Things started looking up when the chick beside him filled up and moved away.

Image

Image

When the 2nd moved away it was just him and big girl.

Yes, it's been like that since yesterday evening. :girlsad3: Accident? It was okay earlier that day.

Oh I'm so sad to see that. I remember thinking, at least these guys look good, as it appeared that they were being fed equaly to me. Evidently not or maybe an accident. :sorrow:

Just opened the cam again, the dead chick is no longer there. Let's hope it was an accident and not something that might affect the others. :girlsad3:

Somebody was at the nest box just a short while ago. Cleaned out the feather bed. Left the unhatched egg. The two(?) chicks are in the far right corner. Can't have been banded yet, only 11 and 9 days old.

Wow, so somebody came to check things out maybe to make sure the other two were ok? Wonder if there were mites or fleas or some other infestation in the box?

So glad to hear that!!! I guess with all the infestations in the MN nests this year, better to be safe than sorry!!! As happy as I am that they are being more pro active, I sure wish they would have been more receptive to mine and KF's emails when this all started...way back with the Blackdog nest. All of these nests are monitored by RRP...so, they have really had a tough year.

Cohasset

I was starting to get a little worried because I never saw #4 during 2 short feeds..

but he/she finally showed up..
