Peregrine Falcons Delay USS Saratoga Departure
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Jul 18, 2014, 12:48 PM ET
By JENNIFER McDERMOTT Associated Press
Associated Press

The Navy is ready to say goodbye to the USS Saratoga, but a family of peregrine falcons is not.

The falcons are nesting on board the decommissioned aircraft carrier in Newport, Rhode Island. The Navy has delayed the Saratoga's final trip to Texas, where it will be dismantled, until the fledglings are ready to leave......

Here are some great photographs and an even better story from Providence Raptors and Peter Green photography of the USS Saratoga peregrine falcon family. http://www.providenceraptors.com/2013/0 ... t-carrier/ by David Edward Gates

Peregrine falcons hanging around New Holland water tower.

Posted: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 1:45 pm | Updated: 3:14 pm, Wed Aug 6, 2014.
By P.J. REILLY | Staff Writer
A juvenile peregrine falcon, a bird rarely spotted in Lancaster County, has been seen hanging out on a water tower in New Holland in recent weeks.
Dan Mummert, a wildlife diversity biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, photographed the bird July 29, as it perched on a ring around the tower at South Hoover and Diller avenues.
"I watched it for about an hour," Mummert said. "It was preening the whole time. The most exciting thing I saw it do was lift its leg to scratch its head, but that showed me that it did not have a leg band, which was important information for me to have.".....

Well, I really didn't pay close attention to this nest this year because no chicks...However, I've been watching recently....still trying to confirm the female..

This is the male: 2004 hatch from this very box..

Is there a page for the NYC Central Park West peregrine falcons? In any case, here is the link to a petition to save the falcon scrape.

Consolidated Grain Elevator in Savanna, Illinois
3 hatched
1 female
(Angel)1947-22607 b/r B/46
2 males
Olaf 1156-19007 b/r H/40
Sven 1156-19008 b/r H/41
Female had a collision with car on I80 bridge and died on 7/10, the worse part is she never got a name given to her.
So I am going to call her Angel

 Thank you Bonnie just signed and shared, hope you don't mind , but I'm going to take this to breaking news. Some go straight there when they open the forum & we can get more to sign.
