Congratulations everyone, we have our first egg of the 2023 season! The first egg came around 12:30 PM today. The pair has been preparing the nest bole with soft grasses and leaves for a few weeks. The female has been slowing down, spending more time in the nest and the male has been bringing food to her in the nest. These are signs that an egg was imminent. Ferenz! How delightful that you follow the Avon Lake eagle nest! This nest is about 2 hours from me, and a weatherman (Mark Johnson) from Cleveland, Ohio keeps an eye on the nest and posts about it on his Facebook page. He had told us the eagles laid their first egg just after 4:00 pm, our time on Friday February 24. Then today he posted that now mamma eagle is sitting on 2 eggs…
