Good Morning -
Stomach trouble this am...
I'm still going to try to get down there later this morning...
Thanks for the Tower info Shep - that's where I was - the SW corner (or side) of the building (hopefully!)!!!
Those pics sure looked like a fledge... I watched those hops/flaps last eve too - and all of the rain was practically gone - there was a quick shower much later - but the weather cleared up nicely... It's supposed to be sunny and BREEZY today!
I'll let you know when I go!

June 28, 2015 SONday Shepnotes
At 9 am no Koppie seen. I believe sky got video of his fledge last nite
5.53 am Burnsie is workin on big prey - dont see anyone.
If Koppie was there he'da got that prey first!
6.17 am Burnsie perched on curb looking over the bridge - she hears Koppie and the call of the open skies
6.20 She's up on bridge - Cady is sitting at the far end right on the edge of roof - probly hears Koppie
6.26 am Burnsie is bobbing her head and trembling excitedly
7.15 am Cady? I think this is Cady - Burnsie had no white fluff. If so Cady's lost a LOT of white!
I DONT think either of the girls is ready to fledge - judging by watching - but its in Burnsie's mind.

:congrats KOPPIE on a beautiful fledge!!! :eggjump:

There is one a ways down. Could be that there are more further down that can't be seen.

If you blink or look away for a second - the entire scene changes! I wish they had sound on this nest!!!

(I think I'm staying close to home today! I'm hoping SOMEONE will check around the building tomorrow, after all, hundreds of people work there...) :girlyes:

I had two seconds to check here before I have to head out the door again..

so, it appears that WAS a fledge in the vid..since we seem to be missing one so far today...If I had to make a guess, I would have to say the fledge was an oops!!! BUT...Koppie has all the tools needed to be successful.

OK...unfortunately, I gotta go...back this evening..

It was Koppie because I have been seeing both girls.
It was really a nice fledge. It appeared intentional - but what do I know.

bon - thats Barb - I am surprised she wasnt greeted - but - no prey

10.16 am Both girls perched on curb - Cady on the other side of Burnsi
- - -
noon I see both girls, 1 up on bridge
1.20 pm Some prey laying on roof and one kid is having a fit running around
the other just lays up on bridge
Shortly before 2 pm Barb showed up - and NONE of the kids greeted her. no prey
2 pm Barb is standing over the uneaten prey - just staring at it. She really is an odd one! She finally ate it
2.15 pm Barb finally left
I see no one - thats not unusual

(Weather was "funny" today - quite breezy, lots of Dark Clouds passing by, high in low 80's, Showers north of Baltimore!!!)

(Added - Off topic - I was just reading the Columbus posts.... WOW!!! Sure hope I can see that here in Ballamer!!! Beautiful! :loveheart2: )

3.20 pm Barb is back and eating as if she hadnt eaten in a month - gobbling under the bridge
4.11 Barb left - she had just stood in the doorway a long long time
- Was she reviewing the last 60 days, Boh, fight with Barb1, her eggs, 3 chicks, now 2 left upstairs
5.40 pm Burnsie showed up - poof - there she was parading about, then up on ledge. Only half a moth-eaten white hat now

Thanks, Shep - still no sign of "our Boy?"
(That's not unusual, is it??? It could be days until (if) he returns to the nest?)

Koppie fledged the evening of June 27
Only the 2 sisters remain
Chesapeak has not confirmed this yet

Here is an email I got from Chesapeak June 29

Good morning,
Thank you for your email. We will look into the possibility of shifting the camera again, but we tried to take into account many requests to shift the camera to cover more of the ledge, which in turn, causes some of the "height" to be cut off.

Yes, I believe the camera will be run all summer dependent on available funding for the two wildlife cameras we run.

We do not have anyone on site, but we know of several people who went down to the nest this weekend to see any potential fledge. We rely on the expertise of the biologists who have been monitoring this nest for years to advise us on any action, since we are certainly not wildlife biologists and are learning throughout the process.
