Kalamazoo~I was afraid they had lost a baby. For the longest time, only 3 were up for the feed...then toward the end, #4 popped up..

Davenport update about the people in the window.

MidAmerican Energy Company

Thank you for the inquiry about the falcons nesting on our building. The person whose reflection you saw was likely our senior facilities technician, who has been monitoring the falcons and their nesting box for over a decade. That day, he was checking for hatchlings. He is very careful to be as unobtrusive as possible while monitoring the wellbeing of the falcons and their eggs. The falcons are, by nature, very protective of their nest, but they seem to have grown accustomed to the occasional monitoring, and they continue to return to the nesting box on our building year after year. We are proud that our nesting box – which was installed on our building by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in 2003 – has helped restore the peregrine falcon population in our area. Thank you for caring about these beautiful birds as much as we do. We hope you’ll keep watching as the chicks hatch and make their way in the world.

Savannah looks like a bust this year, I sure wish I knew what was happening. I just wonder if that raccoon was ever dealt with, I mean a predator guard of some sort. I watched last night & no one showed up. So sad. :girlsad3:

I agree...I watched a bunch yesterday and saw nothing...my first thought is that something happened to the resident male. such a bummer they turned the cam off...

UIC I watched for about 3 minutes, and stopped watching when I saw little one not getting anything. Maybe it did when I tuned out. I hope.

Just read that PD @ Davenport has been replace Scorpio has a new mate. They just found out last week.

There's a new falcon in town.

PD, the male peregrine falcon that has nested with female Scorpio in downtown Davenport since 2003, has been replaced.

This realization dawned last week when Dave Sebben took new photos of the birds that nest off the 10th floor of the MidAmerican Energy Co. building.

Sebben is a MidAmerican employee who has watched over the birds for 12 years, ever since the Department of Natural Resources began its reintroduction project of the once-nearly extinct species.

Examining his photos when he got home, Sebben thought something appeared a bit different about the male that he assumed was PD.
I sat there for about five minutes," Sebben said. PD's identifying band was PD — that is how he got his name.

Sebben consulted an online data base for peregrine falcons, and found that E60 hatched in 2007 from a nest outside the US Bank building in Cedar Rapids
