2 girls and a boy - as I thought!

Chesapeake Conservancy
June 11, 2015 2 pm facebook
News from the falcon nest! Mr. Craig Koppie, a raptor biologist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Chesapeake Bay Field Office, completed banding the chicks this morning and updated us on the three eyases and their parents. According to Mr. Koppie, two of the eyases are female, and are healthy and robust. The third eyas is male, and is exhibiting symptoms that point to either dehydration or the bird equivalent of a chest cold. He informed us that he is in route to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, Inc. in Newark, DE, where they will check out the young male falcon. Our fingers are crossed that the male eyas will make a full and fast recovery! In addition, Mr. Koppie was kind enough to clean the nest and the windows, and has reported that the birds are happily feeding on a variety of shorebirds and pigeons. Thank you Mr. Koppie!

I thot something was wrong with the little male for several reasons.
He often seemed off balance for one thing.
The post does not mention bugs
I had noticed that corner had been cleaned - good!

Sky, thanks for affirming its a good rehab! I think he is plucky enough to make it! :loveheart2:

Oh..that's not too bad...

If he's better by Monday? That's probably still in safe window zone!! I know Chris and Chad returned a slightly older chick the other day to a bridge nest and it didn't flush the 3 other chicks...However the chick jumped again...LOL

bonbon and anybody else...if you do not know of Chris and Chad Saladin, you must spend some time visiting their FB page. This couple is the equivalent of the peregrine falcon angel..and take the most amazing pictures..

If you've never visited their page, then let me start you off with the amazing story of Phelps~

They are...just ordinary people who love falcons and have been following them for years..They have established such great relationships with biologists and rehab centers in that area of Ohio...if falcons are in distress? They call C & C with DNR's blessing!!

5.45 am Boh feeding the 2 kids - I'd say the one on the RIGHT hatched first, LQQK at feathering.
Whether the male hatched first or last we dont know.
BOTH females have a GREEN band with BLACK letters on their LEFT leg
I wish there was more info. Did koppie find bugs on them or not.
How is male doing this morning. Do the kids have names.

Nice
pic bon!

QUESTION
Do you think Barb2 knows one of her kids is missing?
They always claim falcons cant count - but

9 am Barb2 had been up on ledge, she came down and peered intently at cam.
Chick came over and peeped up at her. Cute.
She has become a FALCON MOM! She is REALLY giving the cam the Evil eye
She is thinkin - I was RIGHT! Thats an ENEMY!
Too funny! I have come to like her

Great news! We're just been informed by Craig Koppie, raptor biologist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Chesapeake Bay Field Office, that baby boy eyas is good to go back to his family!
According Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, Inc. all tests indicated he is in good health. They gave him extra fluids to give him a jump-start.
Details are being worked out now to get him back to the 33rd floor of the Transamerica Building as soon as possible. Stay tuned!

 Thanks BonBon, this is great news! So, maybe just a little dehydrated. Hope he can maintain his fluid intake @ an adequate level when he returns. Wouldn't it be great if they could work out the details and return him to the nest today! :flirty:
