QUESTION
Do you think Barb2 knows one of her kids is missing?
They always claim falcons cant count - but

I was wondering the same thing... ('they' say Osprey can't count either...)
If I remember correctly, the first time each parent came back to the nest, didn't each one stare at the chicks for a moment; maybe they thought: "I can't put my finger (talon) on it... but something's not right..."

Holy Moly! That ledge is loooong - wish there was a ledge cam and sound!
(That was my very first "PF hatch" - I thought the Mom was supposed to drag the newbie around!!!! Looked perfectly normal to me! :teehee: :teehee: :girlcrazy: )

(I know, Shep! I've learned soooo much here! Thanks to all!)

approx. 8:48pm posted on FB by Chesapeake Conservancy:
Thank you to Mr. Craig Koppie, raptor biologist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Chesapeake Bay Field Office, for these beautiful photos he took while banding the peregrine eyasses yesterday.

(There are 3 photos... don't know how to copy)

Barb and her three chicks. The male is in the middle. He should be back home tomorrow morning!

Barb is up on ledge with prey and finally can see both chicks! She is looking around so far, not coming down to feed right away.

Darling picture, Shep--thank you!

Remember how the biologist that banded our Cathedral chick said that at 3 weeks the kids should be up on their legs (I believe he said most of the time)? It struck me that none of these kids are "up on their legs". Not to take anything away from these kids, just saying that maybe the Cathedral chick wasn't terribly far behind.

I'm hoping to see the return of the little boy this morning. Wonder whether they're hoping the others are at this end or the other during the return.

June 13, 2015 Saturday Shepnotes
5.15 am finds Barb on ledge far left and kids pancaked near wall in nest
What will Barb do when Male is returned?
Can Male hold his own for food? I am sure Craig will watch very closely.
5.30 am Well that was Boh, not Barb on the ledge - with brekky for his kids.
Barb came with prey, sat on ledge looking around a long time, kids didnt pester her.
Dont tell me she dont miss her boy!
TODAY is the first I have seen REAL wingercizing - as if they meant it.
Right now its 8.30 in Balt - Male can come anytime.

Both chicks have walked out of view to the left..it sure would be nice if they could angle the cam more to the left. I know we'd lose part of the tray..but, .....
