Yes,we did it! I could not allow after 15 years of successful breeding to hand this place over to Nile geese we have all along our urban rivers and lakes in Europe
So I installed those bars after many & difficult discussions with friends to to it or not.
My friend Reinhard R. cut up his old skiing-sticks, painted them black and we installed them friday morning. Biggest question was: What is the distance between the bars to keep off the geese, but not the falcons. The range advised to me covered from 6 cm to 28 cm.
So we followed our own heart and set the bars 13 cm apart.
PALATINE arrived in the evening as she does since weeks and stared long time to the change oft the nest box` entrance. But at 17.54 she hopped in, took a look around and hopped out. This morning with PERKEO outside she was again inside.
So all is well that ends well, right?

Great job, Hans-martin. That looks like it should work!! They had to install bars at one of the Canadian nests several years ago...it solved the problem!!
