Peregrine Falcons Kortrijk - 2025 - Jara and James have moved!
It's been a nail-biter for Jara and James's followers. It was already clear that there wouldn't be any breeding on the St. Martin's Church tower this year. But surely they had to go somewhere? And yes, here she is (with a very high probability). In March, there were several sightings of one or two falcons on the St. Elisabeth Church in Kortrijk. One of the birds is definitely unringed. So that could be Jara. No photos of the second bird are available yet that could provide a definitive answer. Two sightings involved a falcon flying into a niche under the sound holes. Today, an inspection of the inside of the tower followed. And sure enough: a peregrine falcon is nesting neatly against the glass that encloses the tower! No webcam this year. But there will undoubtedly be images of the Kortrijk falcons! City of Kortrijk Bird Working Group Southwest Flanders nature

Peregrine Falcons Kortrijk - BND have relocated.
After their breeding intentions at St. Martin's Church were disrupted by late-night work on the tower, the pair briefly disappeared from view. Shortly afterwards, a pair was discovered active at St. Elisabeth's Church in Kortrijk. Two eggs were laid. The current status of the brood is unclear, as there is no clear view of the nest, even from the tower. However, yesterday it was confirmed with certainty that the male in the pair is indeed 'James' BND! City of Kortrijk Nature Point Kortrijk Bird Study Group Southwest Flanders
