What do you mean? The chicks have 3 adults to feed them, and teach them how to become falcons. If there's any problems here, its bugs on the chicks, which will hopefully be rectified when its time for banding. Don't listen to the chat. Most of the people don't have the experience we do in watching nests. I bite my tongue to keep from going into chat. The chicks are good (except for the bugs), and mom and the juvie take shifts now that mom knows she can trust her.

Juvie checking on the mom and the chicks.

So sorry to read about the little chick in Boston. That guy just reached in there and grabbed it. I had no idea.

:sorrow:

Sorry to see the parent so upset too.

Haven't looked at this nest in a couple of days, but the chicks are obviously growing. While the juvie is clearly annoying, she is doing no harm that I can tell.

Hope they address the bug issue soon. Not sure when they are due for banding, just know that when they do band them they usually dust them for mites. Hope they don't forget.

Yes, I hope they don't forget. Mom is constantly picking bugs off of them. It should be any day now they will be banded.

You want a nice nest to watch with a juvie, James River Bridge. She's into this feeding stuff! The chicks don't have time to get hungry cause mom is there stuffing them again! :teehee:

Which make me wonder, did the juvie in this nest lay at least one of the eggs. Cilla (from the nest Orange, Australia), asked that. Nobody knows.

I have lots of other photos not posted. I watched juvie feeding chicks and Mom feeding juvie. Also Mom really picking at chicks, realizing that they have bugs. Parent/parents had a good bit of access to babies today.

Thank you, Terka. Mom stopped her from feeding them big pieces and feathers, but I guess now they can handle it. :1val:

Had a jumping accident--both chicks are OK. From what I can gather, one of the little ones jumped (maybe to get away from mites) to a place that was right beside the nestbox. He cannot get back into the nestbox because there is a ramp. Juvie is taking care of that one, Mom is taking care other the other. Go to Facebook and see some pictures, right near the top: . Right now chick #2 wants to go too. You can see by my capture that its a wonder he hasn't gone over.

Image

Now Juvie is feeding the one in the nest, which leaves me to wonder if Mom is with the other one. They're going to be banded 5/23, so hopefully they will spray the nest for bugs and put the chick back in there.

Good grief, I wish they had not let it go this long. It was clear that mom was going crazy trying to pick the mites off. Hope they both stay safe and make it until banding. I wish that we could watch the 2nd chick too. Good thing they have two moms.

Got a good look at mom feeding juvie. Earlier I suspected, but I couldn't view the chicks, that the juvie would pass it on to the chicks. Mom was just teaching juvie to feed smaller pieces to the chicks. I got my look at mom, juvie and the chick so I confirmed that was happening. One thing Chat said was that mom was feeding juvie and the chicks were starving. Mom fed juvie small enough pieces for the chicks and the juvie gave each any every bite to the chicks. :flirty:

Nancy I actually saw that they said that on chat. I didn't see chicks being deprived as they indicated..... It's so interesting to look in on this site. Something different but then human families different at times. HAHA
