So a few shots today.

So here's enormous prey, dragged everywhere and over the chicks.

Then later, there was another 'feeding' the one where the chick was on it's back.
then male comes in and it looks like female is fussing at something above. He hangs out, nibbles at an eggshell, goes out on the stick, etc. I also spotted a chick against the back wall. Female comes back to feed, much smaller prey, but the chick in the back doesn't get fed I don't think, and maybe not even two of the chicks in the pile.

Don't they look so tiny and sweet?

Ok so another feeding, scrolled back to see it in the last few minutes.

Well all chicks were in range, maybe one didn't get fed, but I did see lots a bites, couldn't tell how much they got but she was clucking to encourage them, but they were also falling around.

I don't know, they didn't seem to know what the chicks were, much less have anything to do with them when I watched last night. Saw them without cover most of the time. Maybe one or both parents not experienced. Watching a feeding, So they seem to be getting bites except for the one on it's back. I haven't checked the temperature there, so. It can only get better, right?

I watched the nest today off and on, plus looked back over the tape. The best thing I got from it was that the male appears to bring prey to the nest. Since the chicks are uncovered so much, I was afraid that she was hunting.

He lands on the stick and brings the prey in, it could have been leftovers, anyway, she gets up and comes back around to feed, he leaves. It looked like all the chicks were still alive when I watched a different feeding.

Pics from today. Things looked pretty good, at least they are getting old enough to be uncoverd a bit. Male shows up with food, and Mom grabbed it, but he wanted to hang out, so she fussed at him ( sounding like chicks do when the cry for food) anyway he made haste to leave.

First few shots show Dad bringing in prey and totally prepared to feed the chicks, when Mom comes in and he runs off, trampling over all of the chicks.
:egg14:

Saw several more feeding, and chicks sleeping.

it was a very warm day and mom came in to help shade and get out o f heat.

they had 3 good feeds early in day and then smaller ones.
it will be warm today also but there is a breeze and then we go into about 3 or 4 rainy ones.

Is there any info on the gender and band codes? Read on the site that they were banded on June 19.

these two short vidoes show you what they are up against , getting prey to nest in wind. Kids are Brutes also :girlcrazy:

adult male

we have so busy monitoring that never have time to do many videos.
