I do have video of proof, of this if needed. not as good as I wanted as when you take down video you miss a lot.
edited for length( turn off sound as I have sound from another cam in there :girlcrazy: )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWt5vlFLxHE

well it was calm. male was i n nest and then female brought prey to roof and then at 12:30pm it was stress for her again. WE do not even know if it is from the last female. It may be migrating falcons passing through and thi s time may have sensed a meal. It happens at my sites all the time.
at 1:37pm -it appears calm again. well she just t left

Yesterday when I was watching I noticed large birds flying high up, circling around. I thought they might be turkey vultures from the way they were flying. There were also others that looked a little like ravens flying. I imagine she's pretty jumpy considering.

you got that right CArolyn.I am jumpy also :teehee: she is young. the male will train her.

I like seeing the flying in the sky. Peter and I saw cranes the other day. I thought I saw turkey vultures also.

spiders may be nature but they gross me out
looks like a tarantula inside the nestbox
will a falcon eat a tarantula?
I wonder if they have window wipers on this cam like GSB does

:1val: Site update with screen captures and a great video of goings on over the weekend:

The Delaware gal just dove off the parapet at about 1827. They've moved the cam angle again to show more sky ... I guess to see aerial interaction in case it occurs, miss seeing nest box interactions though.

her e is a nice late night bonding

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiwJoTvJtwU

except for one dive behind male today, I saw no aerial. She is jumpy but also I think she follows male wherever he goes also. I cannot prove it but I remember when our green girl came in at WEber. she was 2 and DO1 was just a great male. She followed him everywhere and always wanted to be fed. We called her princess LOL. Her first year at WEber she laid eggs but male had to walk her through everything. He taught her how to feed etc. It made us giggle how she just dropped the first feed of first chick right on it ,as if to say, feed yourself. ( I have also seen this vice-versa. With some it is second nature, but with some they need a guiding hand . We joked that he was her second dad.
we do not know how this male is yet, but i hope he can help her along .
where is he from again.

He will be 5 y/o in April. They found out in March last year while he was still with the buffy chested female, "Identity of the New Male Falcon Revealed" with screen captures:

24/AU "Banding records show that this male peregrine falcon hatched just north of Quantico, on the Potomac River, at the Dominion Possum Point Power Station where a pair of falcons nest in a nest box on a smokestack. The Center for Conservation Biology banded this male as a chick at that Power Station on May 4, 2015."

Bev, your photos are awesome, thank you!! There are vultures that are usually in the area. It is very close to osprey nests too, but they are staying on the river. I'm amazed that the 2 yr old is so aggressive, she will be a survivor.

she is so much like my green girl, BARb. green girl had to be rescued and our biologist let me release her. She was huge and he said , she is a Diva and will be a survivor. and that she is. But she was aggressive also. Had to be.

hoping for eggs here. that would be awesome to see again.
so we do not know if the male has nested before. Hope he is wise. :7val:

:1val: Delaware gal is on the parapet squawking right now! I started watching her at about 00:35. She settled some, but was frequently looking around and kept vigil on what was above her looking toward the sky a few times, but more so when she looked up it seemed to be at the building the nest box is located on and probably it's roof line. Then she preened awhile, but every 2-4 seconds she stopped and raised her head to check and make sure something wasn't flying in on her. She is very vigilant on this. When she finished, she stood keeping watch on her surroundings and continued to look above some again. She turned and flew abruptly at 00:55!

Looks like Della from Delaware is the new teeny bopper female now

Virginia DGIF MARCH 10TH, 2020
The new, banded bird can no longer be considered an intruder, as she has established herself as the new female of the pair ? at least for the time being.

March 11 dawn
I've seen her on top of box
and on the ledge today
vocalizes and flies off

This is like reading a book but only reading every 9th page -
no sound - and we dont see sky events

bev's notes are so helpful - she can relate this to her experiences

Love everyone's pics - I take some for RRP
I'm just pulling for eggs here .. might call me a .. pullet
