Thanks Swinwk!! Yes, I'm very familiar with sibling rivalry...(unfortunately)...one of the reasons I don't watch most of these nests until this "phase" has passed!! (unless I feel obligated too...LOL)..too many years of watching it...with the rare occasion of siblicide...so glad falcons, most owls, and kestrels don't do this...

this will pass. I believer the weather has a bit to do with it as On Sunday and Sat they were fed in tandem.

I try not to watch to much until this phase passes also, but all will be O.K. Remember how worried everyone was at Blackwater last year.,E6 will find a way. And E5 is so stuffed right now that E6 will get more next meal.

I just tread back. rivalry only started on Tues again. it was good up until then.
E6 did get a feed yesterday. I went onto chat to find out. I have a feeling E5 is female and will need more anyway.

will try and keep an ey e out but little time for watching.

I wil try and bring videos over of the tandem feeding .

Yesterday, I watched most of the day and E6 got only a few mouth fulls before E5 stopped it. And nothing yet as of right now.

WOW! I know they eat mammals, but I have never seen a raccoon in a nest. It is on the right side of the nest right now. Fishing conditions must be difficult as they are saying.

Somebody posted a pic on Facebook of an adult raccoon on the branch to the left of the nest (you could see it in the pic)...the theory was that the raccoon that was "served" was a relative (possibly offspring) of the one on the branch...kinda sad...food chain, circle of life and all that bitter sweet stuff that goes with watching the nest of a top predator!! :girlsad3:

I was watching when we saw the racoon on left side of nest but then mods said it was just that Harriet paused on that side of nest( on branch), wiht it and then she was on rihgt side of nest. .
but when I was watching, Oz started calling and then I saw the racoon, thinking it was live, and then it was gone and Harriet was on right side of nest with dead racoon.
with other cam not working , we cannot see from the outside in.

So who knows . It was a holy cow( or coot) moment LOL

I am wat5ching against my better judgement. E6 just needs ot scoot to top. We need Harriet there agian or another food drop would be good. E5 just will not go to sleep. E5 almost put his head in. even a few bites is good, but he is afraid. He did get a few bites form nest bowl earlier.

this aggression just started again yesterday and if more keeps coming in, we will see a change around. E6 jsut has to feel he is getting enough .

Thanks Swink :snowflake2:

come on Harriet, Feed E6 . his head goes down as soon as E5 moves but she is taking food his way, I think she is leaning over and feeding him but she is in way, he is sitting up
bully beat him down again . He was just in position to eat too.
So piggy is eating again.

I am afraid I will not watch for a bit, but I still think things will be fine. Too brutal for me right now .

every time E6 gets up to feed E5 is there on him. I think he is a she and she is a nasty. you can hear E6 calling and I am out. Wish I had not checked in . maybe E6 will climb out of bowl and away from E5

I had it taped but I will not post this. Harriet needs to sit on E5.

E6 Bev!!! E6 just received a nearly 30' feed!!! Started with E6 trying to take cover under Harriet ... Mom stepped away from it and then E5 bonked E6 ... E6 got back under mom ... came out and started crying for food ... Harriet pondered situation ... slowly moved to coon ... then began feed and E5 stayed done the whole time!!! E6 has a crop! :loveshow:
