Wow! Awesome updates from everyone!! I had been sidelines by whatever virus had been going around and didn't really get a change to check the cam out!!

Looks like there was an update from Donna..http://ohioperegrinefalcons.blogspot.co ... ntown.html
interesting that there is a supplemental nestbox installed..I hope that this would not encourage our nesting pair to dwell off camera from all their fans!

Good to hear that the contrast will be adjusted. It can be hard to view during direct sun...however this evening during the sundown did result in some pretty cool exposures on the camera!

I am also really interested in this potential nesting pair near OSU!! I run near the river up north on the weekends and I will make sure to be on the lookout if we can pinpoint the nesting and hunting locations of the pair. I usually have my phone with me so I might even be able to snap some photos!

What????!!! Do they want Durand and Spark to move? So strange...maybe Donna will share more of her/their logic later, cuz I don't get it!!

I can't imagine D & S moving...but ya just never know!! I think I would be more concerned about another couple attempting to move into the box which would trigger territorial battles since the sites are so close to each other!!

We've all seen what can happen when sites are too close together...and it ain't pretty!!

Another nest box? What an odd thing to do, to offer them a choice as if they don't already have one. I'm more concerned that another pair might choose to nest there. Even a single battle could be fatal to Durand or Spark.

How odd! I'm not sure what they're thinking, unless they think the peregrines would be cooler in the summer at the other location? :girlcrazy:

I'm interested about the additional nestbox. I wonder if it has to do with delisting. Probably a smart move if one building owner does not want to be responsible, and another building owner does.

Possible...but we all know falcons..the "if you build it, they will come" mentality doesn't work with them...

I wish they had been more clear about the strategy. Spark, I think just landed and ran down the ledge and is sitting in front of the cam now.

Oh wait, he flew and Durand arrived. He comes back and is currently in the box calling to her

She left and he flew out and back to the cam, where he is currently standing. I took pictures of all this but have no clue how I labeled them as I can't find them. Oh well.

on the lower ledge? I think its some type of covering...maybe protecting a drainage grate? (not really sure.) I think its been there for as long as I can remember...we just don't ever see it...that's why I was wondering if we had a wider view of the ledge..

My cam is cutting out too. I remember the first time I saw that thing over there, I thought it was a dead falcon for sure.

I don't live in Ohio, but I consider Columbus my home site. I love Durand and Spark and naturally I care and have concern for their well-being. Moving to a new home is not necessarily a bad thing, but finding out that one has already been built and placed and no further information is "jolting"! From what I have looked up, the Rhodes Tower and the Riffe Center are properties of the state of Ohio and property management of both buildings is contracted to the same company. There is not a camera @ the new site, but if Durand and Spark move over there ... will a camera be placed in the future? Will we possibly miss one season if they move or never to see on cam again? When there is a lack of information/knowledge ... the mind can run rampant ... especially, when their is an emotional attachment ... :loveheart2:

sometimes the powers to be make no sense. Why fix this cam , if they have put out another box. They are courting trouble, if there are other falcons out there.

Winnipeg , downtown is a good example. 2 nests very close together, but this was not encouraged. It just happened.
