I am cautiously optimistic.

I am sop glad they are taking their time with Ozzie. as much as a lot want him there now.
the best time is when season is over as he will be able to get stronger in the wild and then be more able to defend his territory. so thumbs up for this facility

E6 is well fed and , in my opinion, has become stronger because he has had to. Good for his survival.

Yes, the last thing he needs is to be released and immediately have to defend his territory. Not good for freshly healed fractures nor a bird just out of rehab. Just hope the shoulder fracture ... which is the biggest threat to his release ... heals with best outcome! Also, I hope they are able to meet up again in the fall!!! :flirty:

:loveheart2: Ahhh, he looks so vulnerable in that newscast pic. Thanks for bringing this over skygirlblue. Saw on CROW FB that someone posted the initial injury and updates on a bald eagle that Wildlife Center of Virginia had posted a couple years ago with same bone in shoulder fractured. Eventually, it shows Ed releasing that eagle. Hope we have the same outcome with Ozzie.

E6 is spending more and more time away from the nesting area. He is away right now. He was out of sight from ground crew almost 3 hours this weekend as he flew toward river area. And the adult male visitor is spending more and more time with Harriet as he continues to follow her and sat by her without rebuff this weekend.

From CROW on FB:

Ozzie the bald eagle received his scheduled physical therapy and X-ray this morning. A callus, new bone development, has begun to develop and bridge his two fractured ends together. During the physical therapy session, Ozzie’s wings where measured for range of motion and stretched to prevent loss of mobility.
After physical therapy, Ozzie was returned to a small outside enclosure where he will stay for approximately one week without his body wrap. The next step will be to transfer him to a larger enclosure where he can strengthen his flight muscles.
Ozzie has been in the care of CROW for almost four weeks. No release date has been scheduled.

I am glad he is makin g progress and I hope he is kept till nesting season is over. that way he will not have to fight . because he will need time after release to get in tune with things again
