June 8, 2015 Monday Shepnotes
7.20 am feeding - One is gobbling, the other 2 hang back, one is vocaling, the other isnt
- One of the 2 who'd hung back came for a feeding, the 3rd I wonder if its sick.
the pic I titled - sick - is not good, its blurred, it grabbed a bite quick then went into that corner off cam.
I am also concerned about the greyish patches on top of the head of one.
I WISH the biologists'd get there TODAY!

I am surprised how much they grew - in ONE DAY!
No matter how much I watch falcons - their 24 changes amaze me.
One moring I'll wake and the little male will have brown on his chest!

Thanks, Shep... I've also noticed the little one standing off to the side and not eating... and he 'used' to be the 'snuggler.' Banding should be sooooooooon I hope...

we need to catch an entire feed~from start to end~to assess who is eating and how much...I'm very behind with this nest because of Columbus but will try to pay more attention.

I know you gals know this, but watch the crops. Not every chick will eat at every feed if the feeds are close together..Also, its not unusual to have a loner in the group...and that individual can change daily. Columbus had a loner. As they got older, you'd see 2 in 1 pile, and 1 alone...

Back to eating...as they are taking a bite, are they swallowing the food? If they are having an extremely difficult time getting the food down, then that's a problem.

The loner just had one heckuva healthy SQUIRT! so he's eating.
And he just joined th others.
My MAIN concern is

BUGS!

They are all together now...

I'm concerned about Bugs as well...the good news is that they are preening now..which means if they are infested, they can start "controlling" that infestation..

I'm pretty sure I've seen all 3 "preening," i.e., itching... :egg16:

2:31pm - the one closest to the ledge moved over to the wall with his pal
...the 2 chicks continue to nap against the wall together

2:36pm - napping continues... with a few scratches here and there... (#3 still not in view)

2:45pm - one of the 'nappers' decides to try to chew on an old wing!

Just peeked in before posting this... there's #3!!!

3:15pm - The 3 chicks woke up all at once! (reminded me of a '3 Stooges' movie!!!)
