10.30 am Did I just see one of the girls fledge?
She flew-flap-ran down the ledge - then - OFF - just like Koppie had.

(Hi, all! Naturally, I don't know who this is... are there any characteristics that you use - or is it simply "experience?" I.e., when Barb's back is to us - sometimes her feathers look "downy" to me (sticking out a bit all over) and I think she's one of the chicks!)
(I've discovered that the more I learn - the more I DON'T KNOW! :gaaaaah:

MA and the others can probably tell you more but I can tell juvies and adults by the color of the bib/flank area.
White for the adults and brown for the juvies. The stripes on the belly area (juvies) are vertical instead of horizontal.

Both girls are still there...I'm on my way out the door, will try to post pics when I get back if nobody else has... :eggup:

I am really, really surprised the older female has NOT fledged...and they have got to be hungry...has anybody seen a food drop because I haven't..

2:39pm - Someone (chick?) just hop-flapped from the spot near the logo... hoppy/flappy all the way past the ledge - flapped a few more times, looked like it was going to take off - and went toward the wall. The 'napper' picked up its little head and watched the whole thing!!! (Wonder if this is our two girls? Haven't seen food yet - but haven't been on consistently... only in and out.)

July 1, 2015 Wednesday Shepnotes
10 am Sisters appear - Mom Barb just flew off a few minutes ago
10.30 am Did I just see one of the girls fledge? She flew-flap-ran down the ledge - then - OFF - just like Koppie had. And I never saw her again after that
noon evidently Boh was snoozing bottom right out of cam shot
I saw him get up and stretch when one of the girls came galloping up and he left

6.30 pm Barb appeared - juvie went after her screaming and Barb left mad juvie screaming
7 pm I think its Cadey who is left. I dont see Burnsie. I havent seen her since she took off the end of the bridge earlier

At some point I did see one of the girls with prey on the roof blacktop

Well...I've been recording this cam almost the entire day!! Only 1 kid was in view at dark...no evidence of a fledge caught on cam...Hopefully there was a food drop out of cam view because my recorder picked up NO fresh food drop today...

I caught 1 fly by, 2 Barb visits and 1 Boh visit that didn't last long because one of the girls came tearing down the ledge and chased him off..

I'm guessing they are very hungry. Its possible there could be a drop after dark...Durand (Columbus) almost always brought in a snack between 9 and 10 pm..with sound, it was always easy to figure out what was going on. I'm hoping they had a huge breakfast that just wasn't caught on cam..since they love to disappear way down to the other end..

If one hasn't already fledged today, it wouldn't surprise me if they both left tomorrow!!

July 2, 2015 Thursday Shepnotes
5.20 am Saw a falcon under bridge - it appeared to fly off.
- Earlier I saw a falcon preening in the doorway - too dark to know who
5.45 am Not a birdie in sight
As I recall the prey drop yesterday, I remember the prey had appeared to be moving.
- Twice I've seen parent bring a still alive bird - not here tho
6.16 am Still no birdie - that is NOT normal - they must all 3 be gone
- Cady looked like she was ready to go last nite when I went offline

6.50 am Cady appears - she must have been sulking off cam. she is obviously HUNGRY!!!!
She is tearing all over picking up scraps and spitting them out. Barb cleaning entire area of edibles the past 2 days.
7.18 am I got pic of Cady on bridge - then she flew to nest - then parent appeared in doorway - was attacked, gone - poof
- left Cady SCREAMING! up on bridge
It sure appears Cady will be foreced to leave for lack of food
I think GSB gave pre-fledger a couple bites at least
Cady probly sees parents bringing food to Koppie and Burnsie
8.09 am Cady is laying on top of ledge by doorway

Thanks for the morning report..I had set my recorder to start recording at 5:30 am....which it did...unfortunately I was not paying attention and a software update popped up and it blocked the entire 2 1/2 hr recording...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

So, I"m guessing one of them fledged either yesterday or this morning...I've got one on the table, nest tray end, preening..

Yep sky - me too - at 9.30 am today July 2 one still sits alone on bridge.
Glitches happen sky - dont feel bad.
We hafta wait for Ches to get good n ready to tell us where birdies are

I was watching that too!!

Well, this was supposed to be a vid. Unfortunately, I had my recorder set up for 1 frame per second vs 30 fps (I had been recording a refresh cam)

So, just gonna have to settle for pics...at first I thought she had prey..because she was mantling and screaming so much...but nope. I did see the parent buzz the ledge (that didn't get recorded)...but I couldn't tell if the parent was flying with or without prey..to try and lure her off...she is calm now...but before...WOW...

You know, I do fledge watch, and I know it is so hard when other sites do not, as you do not know what is happening. But I know how tough watches are. I am wearing down, and most people do not want to make the commitment. there will come a time soon, when I just cannot do it anymore,But all it really takes are some eyes to watch from below and track kids. If you have numbers of people to call, and you have good nerves( I do not) that is what it takes. the commitment is huge as it takes hours of watching.

so I hope these kids are O.K. Urban jungles are just not good at best of times and I just like to think positive until otherwise told
