PNC building (above the greenery logo)

Same building - tad different angle (don't know about you- but this is confusing!) - also, now I understand why PeFa's like to nest in the city - lots of high nooks and crannies - just like the mountains!

You got that right, Shep!

Look closely today at the green patch in upper-ish left of the cam pic... That's "Federal Hill" It'll start to get packed with people picnicking (even if it rains!), waiting for the fireworks tonight, which is a Big Deal at the Inner Harbor. And you'll be able to see the fireworks, too, I think.

(Added - Off Topic - Shep - I LOVE Operation Migration! Found them last year and watched every one of their flights and Sunday chats! :loveheart2: When they had the events in Maryland this year, I was out of town... :eggsad: )

WOW...look at all that reflective glass..YIKES...very dangerous for birds!!!

I have an old Canon...but, it doesn't zoom near as much as I would like!!! I wish I had gotten one with a more telephoto lens..Impossible to take bird pics with it because I need to get closer than I'd like...and of course, that scares the birds away...

I used to watch the osprey migration cam all the time and follow their daily blog.....now with so many falcon nests to keep up with, there's just not any time left in the day...so, its hit and miss..

..and thanks for pointing out the green space in the distance...I always worry about fireworks and new fledges..ya just never know how they are going to react to the booms and exploding fireworks...heck, it freaks out my animals..can you imagine what it does to wildlife in an area...

REMEMBER 2011
Thousands of Dead birds fall from the sky in Arkansas
100,000 fish die in northwest Arkansas about 125 miles northwest of Little Rock.
Hundreds of earthquakes north of Little Rock.

January 2, 2011 - December 31, 2010 at 11:30 pm 1,000 dead blackbirds fell from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12106315
http://cj.myfreeforum.org/about1538.html

I have heard a lot of speculation WHY this happened,
fireworks, thunderstorm, etc etc
The birds laid all over streets

AND SPEAKING OF 'FIREWORKS" ... I RESCUED A DOG FROM THE STREET THURSDAY EVE ... CALLED THE # ON TAG ... TURNED OUT TO BE "MY" VET OFFICE THAT WAS CLOSED ... LONG STORY SHORT ... I MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE DOG @ ONE OF MY PLACES THAT "MY DOGS" DON'T RESIDE ... TOOK THE DOG TO HIS/MY VET THE NEXT MORNING ... THE RECEPTIONIST SAID ... OH JEAN, THAT'S MIKEY ... PUT HIM ON THE SCALES AND GET HIS WEIGHT AND I'LL PUT ON HIS BRACELET... HE'S DUE IN HERE @ 4 THIS EVE FOR BOARDING TIL MONDAY ... (AND YES IT WAS "FIREWORKS" THAT SCARED HIM AWAY PER OWNER!) :egglaugh:

Jeeeze - Poor animals - the fireworks DO scare them to death... my 'buddy,' Tiger, has been a mess this week - just with the few 'preliminary' bangs.

Also - Correction - Federal Hill (Baltimore) is more in the upper center of cam pic - not left.

Marsha L- fb post Today at 7:27am
I was downtown Baltimore this morning to observe the falcons from 5:30am - 9:00am and observed two fledglings on the Transamerica building -one on the 14th floor eastside and one on 24th floor westside. Observed the fledgling on the 14th floor fly off and after some repositioning on various buildings within a 3 block radius of Transamerica, two adults and one juvenile settled atop the Bank of America Building, where the fledgling was fed.

Hey! Marsha does exist! LOL!

Thanks for all the great photos, Bonbon! There really are a lot of places for birds to perch, so it has to be a nightmare for Fledge Watchers. Of course, if Marsha has been doing this for a while, she would have a feel for their favorite places.

That's exactly what I was thinking - she knows where to look - and WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE!!! And wouldn't be surprised if she has a very powerful scope or binoculars (my binoculars are ok - I thought - :teehee: )

Added: Very heavy rains now moving thru Baltimore (11:50am)...

Here are a few more pics to give you an idea of the area around the Transamerica building (where I checked for fallen chicks):

This is across the street (can't remember if it's east or west):

Area around Transamerica Bldg (bushes I checked):

I think there were songbird nests in many of the trees - could hear them!

I just tried something on Google Earth (love G.E.!);
Search directions:
100 Light St 21202 (where the nest is)
to
300 E. Lombard St (where I think FNB is - where Marsha saw the falcons, about 2 blocks away)
Do the Street View (I parked next-door to the blue awning-bldg. (Royal Farm Store) on the corner of Light St!).
This will give you the "flavor" of downtown Ballamer - where our falcons live!!!

(Now I really do have to get out of here!!!)

Bonbon, when you're looking for fledglings, pay attention to those small trees. Harrisburg fledglings have landed in small trees like that before. I was helping with Fledge Watch one evening when Sue Hannan had to remove a fledgling from a small tree like that. Little guy was then taken to the roof of the RC Building where he fledged again the next day. :loveheart2:
