Just some pics from this evening of A2 and the visiting eagle. I suspect this eagle is another male. He has chosen to spend this evening in the nest tree...alone.

623pm - A2 in the nest, defending it with lots of vocals over a period of time, but Samson did not come to rescue her. Looks like she has claimed this nest.

623pm - The visiting eagle with speckling on top of his head.

628pm - The visiting eagle, showing white speckling on his back, just below the neck line.

Feb 24 at 3.45 am No sign of an eagle

Feb 23, 7:56 PM gretchen_AEF (Admin): SATURDAY Tuck-In:
This newest visitor is relentless and is roosting at the nest again tonight. However, the eagle didn't arrive peacefully, as A2 kicked in with high vocals, showing her displeasure. She finally left, and we have another beauty in view.

Feb 23, 10:12 PM jd_AEF (Moderator):
11:10 pm It appears the visiting eagle flew from the nest tree to an undisclosed location

Wondering what's up? It left @ 12:35 am last night and 11:10 tonight. Seems these younger eagles don't care what time it is to fly! (Kinda like us when we were younger!! :teehee: )

:12val: After all the excitement this morning, no visits from either visitor this afternoon and evening, the mods are saying. Many pics of the 2 were taken by the mods today and they are making comparisons. I think the one with the brown streaks on the side of it's tail, I have seen previous here. Don't have time nor energy to look back tonight. I think this streams, so don't know how long they will remain @ the top of the page. https://www.flickr.com/photos/94664847@N07/

:7val: So sweet!! A2 got off the floor of the nest and after vocals between the two, she walked over to the rail and looked down to Samson who is just below. You can see them on cam 3, his body shows against the front side of the nest with the branch he is on right now.

:16val: Possibly, this is why we have so much difficulty encouraging Samson to choose one mate over another. It takes "It's what's on the inside that counts ..." to a whole new level!! While this bird in particular is not an eagle ... I pulled this sentence shown below from the relatively short article recommended by an AEF Mod for reading.

“The fact that the two parents have very similar hormonal values is also fascinating for us,” adds Jenny Ouyang. “It is not yet clear whether the couples influence each other’s hormonal status or whether they select partners with similar hormone levels.” (Max Planck Institute for Ornithology)
