Samson just flew!

Excerpt from comment by sharipf_AEF today on live cams on web page:

"the 4k cam seems to be streaming more smoothly there as our tech was able to make some adjustments on our page to that cam."

Nobody in the tree tonight, they went to the LY. They had a visit early this eve. Saw that Conner plans on making even more tweaks to the cam. Earlier today, one of the mods said A2 would be named after she lays eggs and they HATCH, however that is not the case. On chat tonight several of the mods and Gretchen the admin said they would name her when she lays an egg!! Thank goodness!!

Cams 1 and 2 go to 11:28 when I hit "live" and they flew at 11:48 per mod. The 4K and long-range are showing actual live views, I believe. So, even though it seems they are there when you go in, I don't think they are. Waiting for mod to address.

Samson just flew into the nest and nailed him!! Samson is in territorial/protector mode!! The first time I have ever seen this out of Samson!! I don't think he hurt the sub-adult that I believe from it's size was male. The sub-adult had been looking with alertness in the direction Samson flew in from for a bit before Samson arrived, so I think it had become aware of Samson being in the area prior to the send off.

Samson had a fish and even though I saw the actual event, I did not see the fish!! So, I bet the sub saw Samson fishing when he was watching so alertly just prior to the event. DO NOT MISS THIS SCREEN CAPTURE TAKEN AT THE BEST POSSIBLE MOMENT OF THIS EVENT BY PRanfone:

This is mod's account of incident, but I never saw A2. Later, you could see the sub land on a branch to the left at 2:40 and the incident was about 2:38. It flew after awhile.

tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Samson arrives at 2:38 with a nice fish, and vocals, causing the visitor to fly down to another branch, then A2 can be seen chasing the sub away from the nest!

Samson and A2 are currently on the tree and both can be seen on 4K cam on opposing branches, although they are not in the nest. On same branch now at 5:20.

I went back and reviewed the incident from earlier this afternoon from all of the cams. The cams have different times. At no time did I see A2. From the long-range cam, I saw the sub-adult drop down to a lower branch after Samson ran him off the nest, he stayed a minute or two before flying. He returned seconds later and hopped branches before finally leaving the area.

Samson has returned to finish off that fish.
He flew at 7:18 from Lookout Point!

I think she meant Samson, but wondering if this is the short visit Gretchen mentioned that A2 made.

I'll bet this sub-adult is hungry. It seemed small next to Samson earlier today and even while it was in the nest alone. He want's Samson and A2 to get him a fish I bet. I hope he gets a fish 1st thing in the morning!! This time A2 sent him on his way!

gretchen_AEF (Admin): WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: Whoa, what a day. We had our second visitor of the season at the nest today. This sub-adult stayed for quite some time until Samson flew in and made sure the eagle made an exit. Then tonight at tuck both Samson and A2 flew over us landing in their favorite pine in the LY (cont)

gretchen_AEF (Admin): and soon the same sub-adult from this afternoon came cruising in and landed above them. They were both very vocal and not happy. Ten minutes later the sub-adult flew and A2 followed. She made certain the eagle was outta their territory and flew back to the nest briefly. She soon returned as Samson greeted her. He knew she had it covered! They vocalized sweetly back and forth.

Samson has arrived on Lookout Point after flying from a lower branch that he landed on at about 5:24!
He did not stay long ...

A2 arrived a couple of minutes ago to a branch near the nest crying for Samson's fish!!
He gave up and flew out and eventually to Lookout Point, and A2 got the fish at 6:20 on the 4K!!

8:02 Samson and A2 are still on the tree! A2 has been sleeping and he is grooming. Looks as if they are staying the night.
