 M15 stopped by the pond for a drink, then to the snag, prior to settling on the attic for the night. Harriet is on the nest. Looks as if another rainy night.

SWFL Eagles ~ Harriet & M15 ALERT!! Juvie Flying Overhead! GUARD & PROTECT E14! 12.22.19

Harriet is brooding E14 when she suddenly alerts - a juvenile eagle is seen flying overhead (from cam3). Harriet calms down and then begins alerting loudly again - M is seen flying in from across the street carrying a large clump of grasses with roots attached to the base. He lands in the nest and sounds the alarm with Harriet as they track the juvie flying over the nest!! The juvie circles around and comes back and then flies off towards the church. Harriet goes to the veranda then the attic sounding the alarm to make sure the juvie has left the area. Multi cam coverage of the action.

M stays with E14 and then takes the large clump of grasses and covers E14 and the egg! E14 pokes his head up! M arranges the grass on the nest and takes over brooding!! They are fierce defenders of their offspring and nest! Thank you for watching!

 Saw that an admin responded on chat, the normal hatch range here is 34-39 days which coincides with 12/20-12/25. Also, relayed 40-41 has been seen elsewhere, but is not the usual. No pip seen in 2nd egg from mods as yet.

:holsad: No pip today. Tomorrow is the last day in the hatch window of when Harriet's eggs have hatched combining all previous seasons. From the 360, I listened to 5 feeds and 1 period where neither parent was on the chick and egg, trying to hear dueling chirps from E14 and the egg. But, I was unable to hear this. The only chirping I heard came from E14 and would cease each time it grabbed the food from it's parent's beak for a second or two. Will try again tomorrow ... unless morning brings us a pip! Harriet was asleep on the nest with her head tucked when I left and M15 is spending the night away from the nest tree.
