:hollaugh: Nicholas is getting himself cozy in the bowl right now! Both have been in this morning.

:1snowman: Nicholas and Victoria are spending the night in the pasture on the far, right, snag. They can be seen together on cam 3 and I can see 1 white head from the cow cam! The difference in their size is showcased from this posterior view on cam 3.

:1snowman: Both spent the entire night on the snag. They have had a busy morning with nestorations. Saw a stick and moss deliveries earlier today.

 Saw them leave tonight from the nest and tree and at least the 1st one did not stop at the snag.

:1snowman: They are not spending the night here that I can see. Saw one leave the nest a little before dark from the cow cam and fly right off screen. The 1st one (probably Vic from size) arrived to the near snag before the IR went out this morning. Both were on the nest and tree off and on this morning working, alerting, standing around, lying in the bowl, etc. Both made a visit to the nest early this eve too.

:1snowman: Victoria did not spend the whole night on the same branch of the snag, but Nicholas did! At sometime after 1 on the DVR, she is no longer there. Maybe she went to the tree, because about 2 hours later, she shows up on the nest where she slept in the bowl for awhile. On the cow cam at 7:00, she flies in next to Nicholas still on his branch on the snag and he gets up and mates with her!

:7val: :newegg: Congratulations Victoria and Nicholas!! I went back on the nest cam to see, but it jumped from 1610 to 1617 to 1629. But, it still shows up on the overhead cam as in their video. I saw Nicholas come in with a stick and place at 1643, she got up and he saw his egg for the 1st time at 1645 and he left at 1647. I assume that is her lying on the egg right now in the rain and I was unable to locate Nicholas. :7val:

:rudolf: Victoria is on the nest tonight. Nicholas was with her earlier, left to go to the far snag, but decided to go elsewhere for the night.

an owl landed on branch by nest last night. she did not see it at first but then flapped wings and owl left. Dad came in and stood guard rest of night. lots of owls this year. I think quite a few trees must have fallen or lost nests during storms over past year.

:15heartbeat: Really feel bad for Victoria tonight. She is not going to get any rest if those flying pests don't get out of there. She was shaking her head every 1-2 seconds when I was watching a few minutes ago. She is so tired and tried to lay her head down, but after a few seconds she popped it back up, because they were all over her head. Earlier this evening, they seem to number in the 100's. EC said last night they are near the marshes and the insects are a part of living there. I thought I saw Nicholas leave the nest and fly to the snag staying awhile before flying out and down toward the right till out of sight at dusk or later, so I don't think he is on the tree tonight.

:1val: From EC who ID's what I saw last night as mosquitoes:

Eagle Country: "Good morning from Steve. I thought it might help to get perspective on our mosquitos. This nest is within 1/2 miles of wetlands where the mosquitos are severe. They get worse when "low systems" move in.."

Eagle Country: "You will see the eagles fighting them off all through the night and then, as the sun rises, the mosquitoes will dissipate. The price the eagles pay for their young is inspiring to say the least!"

They went on to say the river is about 1/2 mile away and sometimes you can hear the mosquitoes coming! Yikes!!

:flirty: Recent nest exchange. Victoria came in with a load of fluff that she left on the rail. Next she starts de-feathering a bird. At 1st I thought she had brought in the bird with the fluff, but found out Nicholas had brought the bird in yesterday. Thought she was going to eat, but instead after lots of the white, downy, fluff flew over the nest and bowl, she stopped. It makes me wonder ... was that her purpose to begin with ... hmmmm ...

:15heartbeat: I don't think Nicholas has seen his 2nd egg yet, but he is certainly guarding his family tonight from his favorite spot from last season on the rear branch. He's not liking the New Years Eve celebrations ...
