About an hour Trinity was on the eggs. He got up, and had them arranged in a row of four with two along the side. He flew off, and about 30 seconds later Red Girl came in. It took her a while to get settled.

Oh lord, 6 eggs Red Girl?? Probably won't be able to watch much of the feedings. It makes me too nervous.
:nervous:

Red Girl is a very good mother though, you know, except for the time she tossed her first born over against the nest wall and continued to sit on her eggs. Remember that? What a nightmare. Thank goodness the dad, what was his name, saw it and was like good grief, this chick is supposed to be under there with the eggs. And then they ended up taking a couple of chicks, Poor dear Red Girl. I think that she had eggs the year before that didn't hatch, so when one hatched the second year, maybe she didn't get it. I don't remember exactly how it went now. But we all love Red Girl and want to see her nest successful.

I remember hearing about how Red Girl reacted years ago when her first chick hatched. I had a part time job then, and fortunately I did not see it. She has become an excellent mother since then.

Thank you, Greg Inskip, for correcting me. I said it was Caesar, who fathered the one chick Red Girl tossed around. But it was actually his son, CJ. Unfortunately, Caesar disappeared (don't know if he was ever found) shortly after Red Girl laid her first eggs. She kept on the eggs, but decided she couldn't do it anymore. Which was the experts said she should do. She couldn't protect the chicks and hunt for them too. Some people think (including me) that that's why she mistreated the first chick born--it broke her precious egg. The chick was fine and she went on to become a GREAT mother!

I hate to share this, but I will. I learned yesterday from a VERY reliable source that Red Boy from the 2018 nest met his demise in Philadelphia. He was the apparent victim of a window strike. :-(

It is getting very close to hatch time for Red Girl's eggs. She's been there almost all morning. The cam was offline over the weekend, but is now back up and running.

Thanks for the pictures, Nancy. It is VERY close to hatch time. Read a report last night that sounds could be heard coming from the eggs.
