Dear Beverley,
Since you've adopted Maggie the Peregrine Falcon through the Center's Caring for Critters program, we wanted to be sure you knew that her hatch-day is this week!
It's not often that we know the exact birth date or hatch date of a wild animal, but we do if it's one of those rare instances when we get a glimpse into a wild nest cam. Since Maggie hatched on the Richmond Peregrine Falcon cam, we know she came into the world on April 30, 2014.
It's hard to believe she's turning six years old this week -- I remember when she came in as a young fledgling, after crashing into a building in downtown Richmond. In many ways, it seems like that was just a year or so ago! But we've been able to see Maggie grow up in her years with us, and mature into a beautiful falcon.
To celebrate, I'll give her a special birthday gift of sorts (stuffed with some tasty treats) on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. on Facebook LIVE. Join in the fun and send your birthday greetings!
Also, as we continue to navigate this new world in the COVID-19 pandemic, we've been doing many more online presentations and videos to keep people entertained and connected with our work. Recently, I did a reading of Maggie's book, by author Christie Gove-Berg. Check it out here, and share with your favorite Maggie fan!
