They probably will when they band. I know at the time of the implosion last Saturday, they felt the chick would not be able to get up on the parapet yet. The chick will be 4 weeks old next Wednesday and they plan on banding at 4 weeks.

Chick is awake and lying in the nest box. Temps to be a little better today at mid-80's.

Mom just came in to check on the baby...it looked like she cam from the top of the cam. The chick is placing its lunch order....or giving her a piece of its mind...not sure which.

mom then left...but the baby continued to protest, so mom came back.

12:39 and both in the box.

Here we go again...Mom has arrived with a sizable feed.....nice tug-o-war...Mom has prevailed!!

Mom arrives...and baby immediately grabs the prey...not as a dramatic chase as before, but a nice tug o war when baby wouldn't turn loose.

(tug o war is probably out of order)

Good feed after this. Babies crop is huge...and Mom had a few bites herself.

Mom left with the prey item that Dad had brought...and baby couldn't figure out how to eat..LOL

I'll try to get the pics with Dad posted later...

He's calling and calling--maybe he's hungry or lonesome. Like SWINWK had posted before, I too feel sorry for the lone chick. :girlsad3:

Sorry I didn't make it back last night.

The little one actually ate 2 more times Sunday night. Mom brought in a snack at 7 pm. After a brief chase, Mom fed and baby ate it all!!

At 8:38 pm, Dad brought in a snack. this time, Dad didn't play the cat and mouse game. Once the baby stole the snack, Dad was outta there. The baby worked on this feed on/off almost all evening...LOL

Baby had the snack. Dad left after this. Didn't even try to get it back.
