:dancingegg: Dad is atop the nest box ... it's been several days since I have had the opportunity to see him. Chick is on the lip of the box now, being very vocal. Dad went to the front of the roof and peeked down at the chick, then hopped down. Chick came out of nest and Dad went in, so chick went back in. Dad stayed almost a minute before coming out and up to the parapet. Chick let him know she is hungry while he was in the nest! She's still giving him heck vocally! Eventually Dad flew.

Good day to all. At 0920, I thought that I had a Kodak moment. Chick still looking out for somebody, and then both adults arrived with a meal. Chick jumped out of the box with wings flapping and so happy. Female took the meal from the male, and flew off with the meal. Chick and the male looked puzzled and the male left. Chick jumped back into the box. Next was the posting about an adult on top of the box with hopes the meal would be returned.

:dancingegg: Mom is atop the nest box now and chick remains in the nest. (I'm actually at Berry, but will keep checking back.) Came back in and Mom was still on the roof and then she magically disappeared right before my eyes, then the COD came in. Maybe Mom will be back in awhile with something to eat. Chick is resting in nest as I leave at 11:10.

:dancingegg: Dad to the parapet with prey! When chick realised he was there after his vocals, she got really excited. Dad down in front of nest with prey and chick came out and stole it from him and went into the nest with it. Mom arrived to the parapet and is vocal. Dad just hopped up to the lip of the nest and he and Mom are vocal while the chick mantles it's prize!! It's a whole bird and not de-feathered. Mom just hopped down behind the nest and Dad flew. Mom has hopped back up on the parapet. The chick is trying to eat feathers and all. Mom just ran down the parapet vocal and flew! Chick is getting some bites as it tears, but also getting hung up on feathers in it's beak. It was a small bird, but chick seems to be done eating. It just did a PS out the front of the nest. I am hoping some remains in the back of the nest that I can't see ... and maybe not as chick preened and went to the other side of the nest. So, I guess it ate that little bird ... feathers and all!! The chick is standing and vocalizing now. It was just tearing and seemed to take a few bites from something under it's talons. So maybe a little was leftover. It continues to pull and tear. It does have a crop now. It's in the corner now with it's back to us, but continues to pull and tear. Yep, there is still part of the prey left as the chick just lifted it up in full view and it was swinging from it's beak before she set it back down to continue to eat. She is standing looking out the front of the nest and is vocal once again. In profile now showing off her crop and vocalizing as I leave at 13:53.

13:50 female adult was in the box for a few moments and the chick has been eating the previously reported meal. The young girl was screaming away when the adult female left, so maybe another meal will be coming along soon.

Think that we are all feeling much better about things with these three. The adults are getting back to their normal duties and the young lady is having at the food when it arrives. Saw a few times she was flapping out of joy, and has the coordination coming along.

Considering her age is the same as the Richmond Osprey chick 6, she is far more mature. I didn't realize it was that different. I knew about Bald Eagles maturing fastest among raptors in NA, but didn't know that the Peregrines would be so much faster than Ospreys.

I cannot remember how old osprey are when they fledge, but this little girl will hopefully stay put until at least age 42 days...hopefully longer. they are larger and heavier than males and seem to have the most difficulty at fledge...so, the longer she stays put and exercises, the better!!

:1val: Just came in and found her outside the box on the right with a prey item that she is tearing and trying to eat. Have no idea where it came from, but looks to be a different piece of prey from what I was seeing earlier today.

Came in on feed attempt that chick must have initially stolen from Mom as the chick was in possession and Mom came around and took it back. It is fresh. After Mom took control she fed the chick. No leftovers. Mom went to the parapet at 8:47 and walked down it out of sight. Chick is watching from the nest.
