:1val: There are feathers all over the nest. Seeing some from a blue jay. That's been on the menu at Harrisburg lately too. Mom's on duty now.

I hope she's feeding the little one. Got her back to us.

No, she didn't feed the little one. It was right in front of her with its mouth wide open. There was plenty so there was no excuse.

:15heartbeat: It was up front at the lip and I don't think she could see it judging where her breast was. When she left the 1st time after the feed, the 4th one kept it's beak open the whole time she was gone. When Mom came back, she surprised me when she picked up the leftovers and started to feed again. Was hoping she would get the 4th one, but not this time, maybe next time. The 4th chick is strong. It was the one I saw fall over that I posted above and was able to right itself. I thought it looked awful small and continued watching to see if it was a 4th chick and it was!!

:15heartbeat: Also, I noticed after the feed Mom had a lot of trouble getting the 4th one covered, but she kept at it until she finally succeeded after many attempts. She just would not give up.

Little one got fed decently this time; however, I didn't see the one further from her get any bites. Well, I came in halfway through the feed, so I guess it could have gotten some earlier.

Oh, what a great capture you got, Terka! :clapegg:

:15heartbeat: Well the feed was already going when I went in. But from the part I did see, Mom tried to give the little one a bite 3-4 times in a row, but it was not successful. The chick had it's beak open, but could not successfully take it. Then I got COD and unfortunately took myself all the way out and when I came back in, Mom was trying to give the little one a couple bites that were too big for it. I saw some of the others get bites, then the little one MAY have gotten part of a couple attempted bites by her, but I could not be sure. Then it fell twice, one time staying down for too long and when it came up the last time, it was facing the wrong direction and then the feed was over and Mom left and then came back to brood. At some point early on when the chick was facing me, I thought it did have somewhat of a crop, maybe from a previous feed I did not see or the first part of this one that I had missed. Was hoping the reason VDWR had not posted today about the 4th hatch was they were trying to capture a feed with the 4th chick being fed either with SC's or a video. Nothing from them as yet, but maybe they will post later today or tomorrow. I imagine Fridays are busy trying to wrap things up before the weekend.

:1val: Thanks catwoman, I missed it as I was working on Anacapa. She is brooding now and all looked completely covered from this side at least. A wonderful day here!!
