:1val: Both are on the nest tree tonight. The Tuck:

SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Action packed day today at the nest. Gabby (especially) is spending much more time at home lately. Samson deliver a coot (water fowl) and 2 fish to her today (proof is in her crop LOL). What a mate he is!! She looked a bit suspicious tonight as we had our glued to the cam. But she faked us out.....not unusual. She will lay her Egg #1 (NE26) when ready. Samson flew to the LY this evening about 6pm and returned about 8:30pm. They are both tucked. Our cam op, jd_AEF, has all the detail above. SED to our precious pair and SED to you too!

:7val: They are on official "egg watch" here, even though 1st egg last season was laid on 12/31/20. I remember some time ago, they mentioned from behaviors, they felt Gabby would do it sooner this season. Both are home right now and can be seen on cams 1 and 2. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 7:51 PM
MONDAY TUCK-IN: Our Samson and Gabby spent considerable time at the nest again today leading us to believe maybe Egg #1 (NE26) would be laid, but it didn't happen. The morning started off with mating and Samson later delivered a squirrel for Gabby. She's been well-fed over the past 2 days, that's for sure! Gabby is still on Cam 1 & Samson on Cam 2 both Zzzz. Stay tuned as we are on official "Egg Watch"! SED to everyone!

:rudired: Right now Gabby is not on the nest, but on Lookout Point. She is calling out for Samson at intervals. I wanted to show their reasoning for why they believe she will lay her eggs about 2 weeks earlier than last season and this morning they posted why.

Gabby is in the nest at this time. Is this the day?? Although Gabby has laid her eggs mostly in January, based on their recent observations we believe she will lay her eggs earlier than the past two seasons. Last season she laid her first egg on Dec 31 and second egg on Jan 3. This pattern was 2 wks earlier than their first season. Therefore, we believe she will lay her eggs likely 2 wks earlier than last season (likely this week). The recent "red meat" diet is a switch offering great nutrition for embryos. She is definitely in her fertile stage with frequent matings, preening her feathers constantly and much time in the nest. BTW.....signs to look for once Gabby is in labor: She will appear intense and be somewhat hunched over and appear to be supported by her wings. She may appear restless, quiver or shake or rock a bit. She may vocalize softly (well, maybe not softly for Gabrielle!) and/or she may slightly open and close her mouth repeatedly. She may ps in the nest. Her back feathers may rise, and her back spread out some. All eyes are on deck when she's in the nest. We will likely schedule a Bonus Chat soon after she lays her first egg unless it's a scheduled chat day, so stay tuned! All the best is yet to come!! WE ARE ON OFFICIAL EGG WATCH!

:7val: Gabby faked me out at about 9:32-9:35 pm and can be seen on the DVR on the you tube cam 1. Not hard labor or contractions, just took the "stance". She had recently come down to the nest from the branch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrKkGqkQG6M As for now...She is snoozing at intervals on the nest.

Edit to add: The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 9:49 PM
The NEFL cam team has been viewing Gabby. She certainly appeared to be in labor. Perhaps she's ready, but her body isn't quite yet. Stay tuned and TTE!

:rudired: Was unable to find Samson on cam, however Gabby is on cam 1 and absolutely soaked. She does seem to be staying close to home at night. The Tuck:

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 8:50 PM
WEDNESDAY TUCK-IN: We have a pretty wet Hamlet this evening, and rain may continue thru the night. Gabby is in view on Cam 1 and soaking wet. The rain likely feels good to her. Samson is or was perched but isn't in view at this time. He may have jumped to another nest tree branch for coverage and out of sight. The rain drops on the lens of Cam 3 make for a poor view. Our cam op, LisaS_AEF, just might find sneaky Samson somewhere unless he took a quick flight or remains out of view. SED everyone and hope your weather is tolerable.

12/16 After the rain, Samson shifts the litter. Gabby helps him too.

He jumps on a branch, she flies, he behind her

:rudired: Both home tonight. The Tuck:

THURSDAY TUCK-IN: Hmm.....they were both at the nest late afternoon and then took off about 5:48pm. Your ground crew wasn't present tonight, but their vocals were heard and are likely at the LY. Typically jd_AEF can tell where they are early in the morning if they aren't at the nest when they vocalize. Check in early tomorrow morning and they will likely arrive back home. SED to our beloved pair and SED to YOU too!

gretchen_AEF#1945 Today at 9:12 PM
Samson has returned at 9:54pm on LOP, then to the nest and at this time on the Wallenda branch as seen on Cams 1 & 2. Gabby landed just before Samson as seen from Cam 3 on lower Wallenda branch. The cams can't reach her, but she's in a fair view when she moves on Cam 3 full screen far right lower than Samson
