:10sum: Well, they did it I guess! The cams are back with all 4 chicks in the box. 85 is on the point. At first I did not see Niecey, but then she arrived atop the rear wall in a state of excitability and continues to fly out and about kakking as you can hear the trailing kaks as she flys by the nest area!

:15heartbeat: Poor Niecey, she's still on patrol for the humans!

Several of us volunteers were on hand downtown in case of an accident. The whole process went very well. Niecey was on the shield when they came to get the chicks for their treatment. I don't know where 85 was, but he was on the scene almost immediately. SO thankful for all involved with this.

:eggthumb: All 4 chicks are in the nest box and I think it was Niecey who just flew from the nest wall to the stick, back to the wall, then she flew out. Update from the "Falcon Wire":

5/18/2022 :: A successful return for Red
The return of the young falcon banded Red went well. This young falcon was successfully treated for trichomoniasis at Red Creek Wildlife Center. Being close to fledgling, the goal was to return this bird to the ledge located on the Rachel Carson State Office Building (RCSOB). The PA Game Commission (PGC) biologist was able to successfully capture, without injury, the remaining three young falcons banded Yellow, Blue, and Green. None of these birds showed any sign of disease. As a preventive measure, they were also orally treated for trichomoniasis. All four young falcons are united once again on the ledge of the RCSOB in preparation for their upcoming first flights.

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) would like to thank Red Creek Wildlife Center, the PGC, the University of Pennsylvania's PennVet, the Watch and Rescue Volunteers, and the Office of Administration (OA) for their vital contributions to this effort.

:15heartbeat: Oh no, they have discovered the column. Three are up against it and I don't see the 4th one right now. But maybe it's part of the farthest pile, if so they have piled up according to sex. Males in 1 pile, females the other...

Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled to see them over at the column. They might spend the night there. It's not raining here yet, but it's supposed to rain overnight. Plain rain, not storms.

:15heartbeat: I can only make out 2 by the column and Niecey is atop the front wall.

:eggthumb: All 4 milling about just outside the nest. Think it was 85 who I saw on the point preening, when he straightened up he flew.

Looks like they're gonna be sleeping at the column again tonight. Oh, gee.

I have no clue what the attraction is at the column, other than maybe fresh air. A little before 8:30 Niecey did a short feeding, or else I missed some of it. One didn't come to be fed, but maybe she had already eaten. I do think that one was Red. No more quail from rehab.

:eggthumb: Three laid out around the stick and 1 just went around back to the door.

There were some storms in our area around 2 this afternoon. I think the worst of it missed downtown, and was happy to see Hiecey feeding the chicks during some of it. And around 6:30 tonight there was another feeding. Little Blue was trying his best to steal the food from Niecey. He did not get it. Looks like a pigeon wing lying on the ledge. Three are sacked out at the column already.

:flirty: Wow, came in and it's like there are 3 juvies in almost full plumage all of a sudden. The 1 lying by the orange post looks to have some white yet, but too far away to be sure. The ones that have been up and about were having a good time

:eggthumb: Niecey is guarding her crew from atop the front wall and they are over by the column for the night.

:eggthumb: Two in the nest and two near the orange post. No adults seen on cam. Then, one moved all the way out on the point.
