Carla is taking a break from egg sitting- Still four beautiful eggs! Hmm- I think Carla had to go round up Ecco. Here he comes, and settles quickly on his eggs.

Do peregrines carry behaviors from one generation to the next? I watched, and was amused how Carla was quietly incubating her eggs when along came Ecco, asking for a turn. Carla did not budge, and Ecco retreated reluctantly. My mind turned to how Carla’s mother, Moxie in Fort Wayne used to do the very same thing, turn Jamie away when he asked for a turn. And then my mind went back about 15 years ago as I watched Carla’s grandmother, Mystic. Moxie’s dad was Maverick, a grand tiercel, and he kept a tight rein on any intruders that tried to pass through (including humans). I wonder if he didn’t ask very often, and Mystic thought it was her job?Anyway, interesting to me how the 3 generations of females prefer to provide most of the incubation… :loveheart:

She didn't cover the chick until about 15 minutes after it hatched. Then she left--hopefully, to get something for it to eat.

April 24, 2025 (AGAIN!): Double the cuteness on Take Your Kid to Work Day! Carla and Ecco’s second chick arrived shortly after its older sibling and was seen on camera (alongside mom, Carla!) for the first time around 1 pm EST. This is Carla’s second year as a mom and the SECOND TIME two of her chicks hatched on the same day!

April 24, 2025: IT’S HAPPENING…AND JUST IN TIME FOR TAKE YOUR KID TO WORK DAY! Carla and Ecco’s FIRST chick hatched this afternoon at around 12 pm EST. Round-the-clock care is needed from both parents during these early stages of chickhood. Viewers can expect to see Ecco bring food to the nest for Carla and his new offspring to dine on.
