Macomb must be working on the installation of the cam. We have a sideways partial view of a falcon on the nest….

:loveheart: Just saw an egg duty exchange at Flint- still 2 eggs…. Did you know they also have a cam for the outside of the nest box that also takes in a tall pole of some sort that the “off duty” falcon likes to perch on?

:girlyes: Yes, just scroll down, and you can see the rooftop, the ba k of the nestbox, and actually there are two poles. This morning Mr Falcon is perched on the shorter pole…

MSU- The young female has hung around the box for quite a while this afternoon. The male joined her for a bit of bonding in the nest box about an hour ago…

The female, Big Red, is 18 years old. She has been at this site for 16 years. She always laid 5 eggs every year for the first 14 years. Last year she laid 3 eggs. One disappeared and one did not hatch. They banded one female. This year she produced only 2 eggs, and I am as surprised as anyone that she is not incubating consistently. I can only assume her age is a factor, and she's at the end of her fertility. The male is trying to incubate but I'll be surprised if they hatch.

I have not seen any intruders, but the view is limited. Her mate is a good provider and has been mating with her often for over a month.

I was watching her one day when she looked like she was trying to lay an egg, when he brought food into the balcony. He was surprised she didn't rush to him and grab the food, so he took it to her and tried to feed her! So sweet!
