They're also getting more and more independent. Not always huddled together in a fluffy clump. :-) It won't be long now until they are adventuring outside of the nest box.

Is it just me, or does that egg look a bit smashed now?

I did see Mom "step" on it during a feeding today.

Well, that egg has seen its better times, that's for sure. For those of you who don't follow the Wilmington forum, a biologist removed Red Girl's eggs down there around 3:00 this afternoon. I suppose they will be analyzed. Red Girl has attracted a new mate, and hopefully there is still time for them to raise a family this year.

What happened there? I can only follow one nest at a time and I like this one!

The good thing about this is that once this nest is done & the juvies have gone off to begin the best part of their lives, there should still be chicks in Wilmington, so you can concentrate on them then. Of course, we don't know that there will be another clutch, but we're hopeful!

How did that happen? Is there something that automatically does that?

Jan, Red Girl is from Harrisburg's 2008 nest. She laid four eggs, but unfortunately lost her mate and gave up on her eggs. She has since attracted a new mate. Follow her at this web site - http://www.dosbirds.org/wilmfalcons I may have to shut down here shortly, for that thunder I just heard wasn't from the mic downtown! Feeding going on right now.

I think I read c r a p when I read it Reenie. I sort of knew that's what you really said. Good grief, I hope there is NO tornado going through that area. I'm not familiar with wind patterns and the lay of the nest ledge, so I don't know how sheltered they will be from high winds. I hope they will be safe though.

Must be some sort of safeguard against profanity. I remember on the old Greentreks forum that we had to say that Falcon Watch was done from the grazz in front of the Amtrak Station. It always changed those double S's. Storm seems to have moved from the downtown area, and hasn't hit here. Sun is trying to come back out. Mom is on the shield standing guard right now.
