Just got home since leaving here around 1:45 this afternoon. In my brief time downtown I found Niecey sitting on top of one of the cams behind the orange post. Maybe she sits there more than we know. I see she's now on the eggs and Little Dad on the point.

Glad everything is good here. Checking in often but all seems calm. Waiting and watching the Hanover eagles for 2 new additions.

:15heartbeat: Coming in @ 7:08 EDT, Niecey is lying on the eggs and she keeps looking toward the point, but Lil Dad is not there yet. Checking back @ 7:17, she is falling asleep. And as soon as I finished typing this, she is awake and checking again. Lil Dad arrives to the point @ 7:23 with cries noted prior to his arrival! He's been busy preening, since his arrival. He dove deep and flew from the point @ 7:45! God night Lil Dad!! :15heartbeat:

Came in @ 6:17 this morning and Lil Dad was already on the eggs and I could not see Niecey. She returned to the point @ 7:08 with loud cries and Lil Dad responds with small chirps. Niecey had left the point sometime ago and I could not find her on any of the cams, but see she has returned and is on the stick @ 7:51. Niecey moved to inside the nest @ 7:59 asking Lil Dad to get on the eggs, but he didn't budge. At 8:02, she moved right up to him and he still refused to move. :teehee: Finally, after more discussion Lil Dad backed off the eggs and left through the front door and flew with cries, landing on the point @ 8:04.

See all is well. Watching and waiting for first egg to hatch at eagles nest. Egg pipping right now so we should have a new eagle baby today. At least it won't take my time from here.

Just saw Little Dad eyeing his camera perch from the point, and yep, he flew to it.

:spring1: Niecey is on the stick preening and Lil Dad is lying on the eggs. Congrats on your baby eagle Heida! About 6:00 Niecey shooed Lil Dad to the point! He's preening and vocal! I didn't actually see him leave, but gone by 7:38.

Came in @ 6:32 and found Niecey lying on the eggs. Lil Dad flew in with vocals @ 6:36 to the point and oddly is standing there with his back to us. Then there are vocals between the two. He flew from the point @ 6:40, having never turned around and I rushed to the stick cam to watch him arrive for the exchange, but I only catch Niecey's head popping up and looking around and she seems as surprised as me. He does not come here. Within the minute I could hear his cries from afar, but he does not return. At 7:37, Lil Dad returns and goes into the nest and Niecey flies.

You must be really quick to capture Little Dad flying up to the camera perch ljames. He's on the eggs right now. Chilly breeze here this morning, but at the moment it's not drizzling or anything.

:spring1: At 11:01, Niecey finally returns to the stick! You could hear her calls for several seconds before she actually landed.

From the "Falcon Wire":

4/5/2019 :: Sixteen Years Old: Life Expectancy of Peregrine Falcons
Prior to nesting this year, the current breeding male, banded W/V, had a challenger in a 9-year-old male (banded 38S). As with most species of raptors, pairs mate for life. But, current biology suggests the female is more attached to the nest site than her current partner. Therefore, had 38S been successful in displacing W/V, it was likely the current female would have accepted 38S. W/V was able to maintain his status as the breeding male at the ripe old age of 16 years old. For a wild peregrine falcon, that is quite old. Yet, raptors live longer than most people realize. Consider the following excerpt courtesy of the Cornell School of Ornithology: The oldest recorded peregrine falcon was at least 19 years and 9 months old when it was identified by its band in Minnesota in 2012, the same state where it had been banded in 1992.

What that means is that W/V is approaching a rare feat: A documented falcon that could potentially challenge this age record. In addition, the ability to know the actual age of specific birds provides another example of the importance of banding and how it furthers the knowledge of biologists.

:15heartbeat: Niecey is on the nest and I do not see Lil Dad. It's raining.

I have been watching this site since 2009 and Lil Dad is nothing to sneeze at. He knows what's his and he defends it very well. Age is not a factor with him, as far as I can see. :teehee: [/b]Thats's why he is loved here so much' :loveheart2:

Little Dad is on the eggs now, high and dry. I've been part of falcon watch and rescue volunteer crew in Harrisburg since 2000, and can still remember the first time I saw Little Dad in 2005. We are certainly blessed to have him here. He is one in a million.

At 7:23 EDT, Niecey is on the eggs and I don't see Lil Dad on cam. It's 7:53 and I didn't get to see Lil Dad for his send off tonight. Maybe he left a little early with the rain and darkness.

It's 6:04 and Lil Dad is on the stick while Niecey is lying on the eggs. They are silent this morning. And in silence Lil Dad flew @ 6:08 only to return to the stick a minute later. Lil Dad hopped off the stick and walked into the nest with vocals between the two @ 6:22 to relieve Niecey who flew. She did not return, but off and on for a couple minutes you could hear her cries from afar. At 7:45 after hearing cries, I went in and saw Lil Dad on the stick. Eventually I saw a falcon flying coming toward us and below the ledge from the stick cam, that Lil Dad watches and he flies. Niecey arrives and gets on the eggs and in a minute or so Lil Dad arrives on the point.

When I tuned in about 20 minutes ago Little Dad was on the eggs. He got up to do a brief stretch, went out to the stick, and then flew. Less than a minute later Niecey came in. She sometimes sits on the other side of the column, but the cams can't see over there.

Just watched number 2 baby eagle hatch. This is exciting as watching the eggs hatch here. They lost both their eggs last year to a female intruder and Liberty defended her territory. They thought she got hurt real bad and would not return. It reminds me so much of this site,
