Glad Lil Dad is back. Been watching the Hanover bald eagles. Got to see her lay her first egg, Just as exciting as watching here. Second one due Friday. The people who watch them faithfully have it pin pointed to the time. Anywhere between 3 and 6 PM. She had the first one at 5:08 PM Tuesday. Can't wait til they start here. Hopefully all have good luck this year. :loveshow:

I hope I get the order of events right. Lil' Dad was on the point for a while, he suddenly flew to the stick, he must have heard Niecey coming, they bowed to each other and he heads to the box. She calls to him forever and he looks at the cam like , boy she is demanding. Then I heard alarm calls from Niecey but I was watching Lil' Dad in the nest, she leaves and he goes to the point, Niecey returns to the stick and she calls to him again, he listens to her then. She calls again but he must have left and then she tends the nest.

Came in finding Niecey on the fat part of the stick with single talon tracks in the snow indicating she had walked here from the point. Lil Dad was on the point tearing prey! They are very vocal calling back and forth!! She went to the front shield facing the nest. Shortly, she flew away as did he!

Thanks for the report SWINWK. I saw the snow on the ledge and thought oh lord, Hope Lil' Dad didn't take off again.

ljames! Think Lil Dad knew it would be just a "skimmin of snow" as it has already melted off the ledge!! :10val:

Oh heck, it's snowed again. Came in and saw Niecey in the nest and she hopped to the top of the shield. She remained there screaming. Then she flew! But right back she returns to the same spot and there is a mating, a long one and he flew!! She remains on the shield screaming!! :10val:

Glad some of you are having luck finding the falcons at home, and reports are appreciated. I struck out totally yesterday. Most of the snow that fell overnight will probably melt today, but MORE is forecast for tomorrow, and it's to be substantial, followed by VERY cold temps.

FINALLY, a falcon! Niecey is on the stick, busy preening. Elsewhere I read that Lil Dad was on the stick earlier today, but he didn't hang around long. And I did see Lil Dad on the point briefly while Niecey was on the stick. He's not there now.

Saw a canoodle on the stick about five minutes ago. Niecey was calling to Little Dad for quite some time before he obliged. As I type this Niecey is on the stick and Little Dad in the scrape. The expected snow hasn't started yet, but unfortunately it's coming.

Came in and found Niecey on the stick and Lil Dad on the point ... but, it was eerily quiet as Niecey is not screaming. She did let out one small vocal. I thought they must have mated earlier and are just having a quiet moment together. Then, I noticed Niecey speak and bow and position and you guessed it ... here comes Lil Dad and another successful mating!! Lil dad went to the nest and they are speaking to each other still in quieter tones. Lil Dad steps out to the edge of the nest box and Niecey is calling. And your not going to believe this, but they did it again ... back to back matings!! As I leave Niecey is on the stick and Lil Dad is on the point and they are preening and calling will there be a third??? :teehee:

Looks like we all saw it!!

Yes when Lil' Dad went to the point and she was still calling after two matings I thought there might be a third as well. I could see his sweet little self looking her way every now and then. And when she flew, my first thought was oh my, she's going to the point to get in his face.

But no, she gave him a break, he watched to see what she was up to but continued grooming.
