:1val: Samson and Gabby are both home tonight. They mention not as many food deliveries today d/t an immature eagle in the area, I remember them mentioning this eagle being around at 2 different time periods earlier today. The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 17, 7:52 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): TUESDAY TUCK-IN: Gabrielle was perched on LOP when we arrived tonight. Later Samson flew in and they had vocals for sometime. They both later flew with purpose. It appeared there may have been an intruder in the area maybe perched. This afternoon they were both soaring and/or chasing an immature. I later saw the immature flying around the Hamlet area. . .could be the same one tonight. All is well as they are both perched at the nest tonight, and the kids are tucked in the nest. SED to all

Mar 17, 10:32 PM
babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): Fish deliveries today: 7:23 am, 3:35 pm & 3:57 pm

Mar 17, 10:35 PM
babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): 4 Feedings today: 9:21 am (NE22), 3:37 pm (NE22), 4:26 pm (NE22) then 4:35 pm (NE23, a few pieces to NE22, then a few more pieces & the tail to NE23). Maybe not as many food deliveries today with the immature eagle in the area.

:1val: Samson and Gabby are both home tonight! Samson brought in 7 fish and Gabby brought in 2 today!! The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 18, 7:57 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): WEDNESDAY TUCK IN: Today it was one fish delivery after another. . .started to be a comedy with the pantry filling up. The kids both ate more than enough and even did some actual self-feeding lead by NE23! They are spread out like pancakes in the nest and may not move all night! Both mom and dad are perched at the nest. SED to all and remember to be mindful of the instructions giving by the CDC. We're all in this together! Be safe, smart and aware.

:1val: Samson is sleeping across the street tonight. Gabby is on the tree. The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 19, 8:31 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): THURSDAY TUCK-IN: It was a family affair at the nest tonight. Lots of fish delivered again today and both NE22 & NE23 are a repeat from last night....asleep in the nest about as flat as pancakes with HUGE crops. Their position defines "satisfied". Samson flew about 7:40pm, and we tucked him in the ET across the street from the nest. Just think. . .tomorrow the kids will have real names! Be safe and please take heed to the direction given by the CDC and officials. SED to all!

:flirty: That is sooooo sweet. Love the names for these grandkids of Romeo and Juliet.

Gabrielle must sense a cool night coming. Weather forecast shows temps going down to 67 degrees this evening in NE Florida and Mom knows it. Samson bought in a lot of fish today and this evening, Gabrielle really topped the kids off with dinner. So much so that neither eaglet could take another bite. She then did some major housekeeping. She moved all the fish in the pantry to one location nest side, cleaned up any loose scraps, fluffed up the center of the nest, brought in a pine branch with lots of pine needles, and followed this up with a truck load of fresh moss. The kids are tucked in for the night.

:ohyes: Much to my happiness and I am sure everyone else's, Romy has been getting great feeds lately. Wednesday morning, this little guy ate so much fish and his crop was so huge, he could not lay down. It was quite comical to see. He finally had a look of contentment on his face. See pic below. :15heartbeat:

Wed morning 903 am - Romy stuffed to the gills and cannot lay down...lol. :teehee:

:1val: They are unsure where Samson is sleeping tonight, but Gabby is currently on the nest with Romy and Jules. Saw Gabby bring in a long strand of Spanish moss and deposit it perfectly over Jules this afternoon. She had no trouble getting out from under it, but it did buy time for Romy to get a bite or two in while she was discombobulated! The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 20, 8:21 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): FRIDAY TUCK-IN: After Samson flew tonight from the nest, we searched and drove back and forth more than once by the LY and ET, but didn't see him. He's likely tucked hard and heavy after his busy day fishing and delivering. What a champ he is! Looks like his family is tucked hard and heavy too fast asleep on their HUGE crops. A sweet day today in the nest and sweet names given to "Jules" and "Romy"! Romeo and Juliet would be proud. We are too! SED to all!

babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): 8 Fish deliveries today: 7:46 am, 10:55 am, 11:23 am, 12:00 pm, 12:27 pm, 2:36 pm, 4:23 pm & 6:51 pm

Mar 20, 10:11 PM
babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): Multiple feedings today: 6:57 am, 9:21 am, 10:56 am, 12:02 pm, 2:38 pm, 4:23 pm, 5:12 pm, 5:35 pm, 6:52 pm & 7:08 pm - both eaglets fed, sometimes a few bites, sometimes good feedings. @7:20 pm (NE23 a few bites)

:loveheart2: sharipf_AEF: Things to watch for as both eaglets are going into Week 5

Although sibling rivalry has decreased, competing for food will continue throughout the rest of their lives.

Playing with sticks.

Fully standing.

Aware of the world outside the nest.

Tracking of things flying.

:1val: Gabby is on the tree, but I do not see Samson tonight. There are so many bugs at times it looks like very light, snow flurries around Gabby on cam 2! Jules was just up preening a few minutes ago, but think she has settled. She and Romy are on opposite sides of the nest for now. The Tuck, Fish, Feed Reports:

Mar 22, 7:48 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): SUNDAY TUCK-IN: Unfortunately your ground crew was unavailable to tuck tonight. Although they hardly need us to be tucked. . .A BIG meal will do that! Goodness knows, they aren't lacking on food! Samson to the rescue all day long. . .one fish after another! SED to all and remember "physical distancing" is the order! Please stay safe, healthy and aware. This beautiful nest family sure brings peace during this turbulent time.

:15heartbeat: About to say something that will be extremely unpopular and this is meant as my opinion only. It does not change how I feel about Samson. I continue to love and adore him. Is Samson really Samson? I don't think so. I always wondered if there was any footage of Samson's right, middle, talon that was injured by Juliet stepping on it while he was still young enough to be in the bowl, causing it to have a flattened look as an adult eagle after this mishap. There is access to a video of his 1st branching on their page right now titled: AEF 03-03-0214 Northeast Florida Bald Eagles SAMSON UP A TREE 581 views • Mar 3, 2014
Beginning at about 5:40 in the video, there is clear footage of his right, middle, talon that looks normal to me. This was well after Juliet stepping on his talons. For comparison you can look further down under the cam area for the page that shows the differences between Samson and Gabby and the flattened-looking talon of our current Samson. :15heartbeat:

I am fine with your observation, SWINWK, and glad you chose to share. I am not good at noticing the differences ao I am glad someone is more astute than I. We all love Samson, but I love them all... :15heartbeat:

Mar 25, 8:04 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): WEDNESDAY TUCK IN: Well we thought we tucked Samson in at the ET across the street from the nest just before 8pm, but he soon found his way back to the nest after 8pm in the dark. . .just like him.
